Bid your loved ones farewell with dignity

The last thing a grieving family wants to face is having to find the money for a funeral to pay their respects to a loved one. Funeral cover from Cornerstone will take the heavy burden off the shoulders of departed loved ones, by covering the funeral costs should you or one of your members pass away. Benefits are also paid out on the death of the spouse, life partner, or eligible child of a member or pensioner.

What does funeral cover with Cornerstone give you?

Choose from a range of plans, with monthly premiums ranging from R135 to R250 per month, for cover between R10 000 and R20 000 for dependants under 65 years old.

For dependants under 70 year olds, our premiums range from R164 to R307 per month for cover between R10 000 and R20 000.

Get whole life cover for between 5 and 13 family members including children, spouses, extended family members and unmarried mentally/physically disabled children who are totally and completely dependent on the main member.

Once the main member’s cover ceases, the policy can be taken over by any nominated family member.

Funeral FAQ’s

The purpose of funeral benefits is to help pay the funeral costs when a member or pensioner passes away. Funeral benefits are also paid out on the death of the spouse, life partner, or eligible child of a member or pensioner.

A beneficiary nomination form is a document that identifies the person or people that you choose to receive the benefits of a pension or life insurance policy in the event of your death. It ensures that the trustees or service providers know whom to pay the benefits.

If the employer has chosen unapproved death benefits for staff, each staff member MUST complete a nomination form, as the benefit is paid according to the member’s nomination.

If no nomination form is completed, the death benefits will be paid into the deceased’s estate rather than being automatically approved.

For an approved benefit, the trustees of the fund will decide how the benefit should be distributed among the beneficiaries, guided by section 37C (disposal of benefits).

Once Cornerstone Employee Benefits submits all the required documents to the insurer and the payment has been released, proof of payment will be provided to both the beneficiary and the employer.
